"Is He Popenjoy?" is a comic novel, which tells a story of the Marquis of Brotherton who returns to England from Italy with an Italian wife and small child who he claims as his heir, Lord Popenjoy. The plot explores, among other things the question of legitimacy and also that of the power struggles between husband and wife - a topic frequently visited by Trollope.
